My Story

Yogi Berra said, “If you don’t know where you are going, you might end up someplace else.” I believe that nowhere is this more true than in investing and wealth management. That’s why, with every client, I start with your goals. Defining and articulating your goals gives us a road map – a way to determine which strategies to pursue, how much risk to take on, what alternative to select. What are your goals? Many people have only a general idea – retire confidently, take care of my family. But together, we follow a defined process to help you determine specific, concrete goals that we can put a number on. Only then can I develop a plan designed to reach them. That’s why I insist that every client “buy into” my process – I am confident it will help you achieve your objectives.

I work with a limited number of clients, so I can provide personal, proactive service. Comprehensive goals-based financial planning involves more than investments. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with more than 35 years providing wealth management advice, I have the knowledge and training to deliver thoughtful advice and recommendations for every decision involving money, to ensure it aligns with your goals. I am also a practicing branch manager, so I am able to efficiently access the vast resources of Morgan Stanley, one of the leading financial institutions in the world. Working with me is like having your own personal CFO, but instead of pursuing corporate profits, we are working toward what you want most in your life.

THOUGHTFUL, COMPREHENSIVE, AND GOAL-DRIVEN WEALTH MANAGEMENT

Many of your most important life decisions involve money. Each decision has an impact on the next one, and on your future. That’s why I believe in a comprehensive approach to wealth management. I understand that each client's situation is unique and that the right decision for you must be based on what’s important to you. Therefore, I begin each engagement by helping you define and articulate your goals – to establish the “why” of your wealth management strategy before we determine the “how.” I offer the experience, credentials and skills that enable us to provide hands-on, immersive assistance to a select group of clients and families.

    1: Discovery
I begin working with you by having an open conversation to understand your financial situation. I ask our clients for a "wish list" of what their ideal advisor will accomplish for them- I then work in an effort to exceed it.
    Icon Image
    2: Evaluate
Once I have a firm understanding of your finances, fears, and desired outcomes, I establish a strategy based on your short, medium, and long-term objectives. Our goal is to construct a plan which encompasses virtually every important detail of your life.
    Icon Image
    3: Communication
Communication is paramount for my team. I ensure that my clients understand all their options and how they impact their overall financial picture. While I respond promptly to every request, my goal is to offer advice before you know you need it.

    4: Ongoing Review
I believe that every relationship counts. Therefore, I work with a limited number of clients and families to ensure thoughtful advice and impeccable service. I meet regularly to make sure your plan remains current and to review your progress.
Comprehensive wealth management is more than just investing. Every financial decision affects the next one, and the one after that. I provide solutions that reflect both sides of your personal balance sheet, and can access specialists for everything from cash management and lending to estate and wealth transfer planning.

The investments listed may not be suitable for all investors. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC recommends that investors independently evaluate particular investments, and encourages investors to seek the advice of a financial advisor. The appropriateness of a particular investment will depend upon an investor's individual circumstances and objectives.

The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria.

Since life insurance and long term care insurance are medically underwritten, you should not cancel your current policy until your new policy is in force. A change to your current policy may incur charges, fees and costs. A new policy will require a medical exam. Surrender charges may be imposed and the period of time for which the surrender charges apply may increase with a new policy. You should consult with your own tax advisors regarding your potential tax liability on surrenders.

Working with a select group of successful professionals and executives, I provide comprehensive, goals-based investment and financial solutions and advice. My rigorous yet customized process and deeply engaged, personal service lets me help each client define, pursue and achieve their specific goals.

With 35 years of experience, respected credentials and ongoing training and study, I have the knowledge and skills to handle complex financial circumstances. As a Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor, I have personal relationships with highly skilled specialists throughout the firm should a more esoteric need arise.

I am a Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP®), which the Wall Street Journal called “the most significant credential” and requires more than 1,000 hours of study to complete. I earned a B.S. in Business Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from Georgetown University.

I live in Great Falls, VA, and am the proud father of two adult children. I enjoy collecting wine, hiking and the theatre.
