Working With You

Retirement means different things to different people. For some, it means the freedom to explore interests that sat on the backburner while they were working. For others, it means travelling the world, spending more time with grandchildren, perfecting their golf swing, or even living in a new place.

Before we issue any recommendations, we talk to you about your retirement aspirations, project their approximate cost and take a complete inventory of your current finances and expected income streams. We also discuss your other objectives that may or may not have anything to do with retirement – leaving a legacy, for example, or purchasing a second home. Finally, we help you identify potential costs you might not have thought about like unforeseen healthcare expenses. The input you provide helps us formulate a comprehensive plan with tangible recommendations for reaching your goals and generating adequate cash flow to help meet day-to-day retirement expenses. We also focus on building a cash reserve sufficient to help you meet unanticipated expenses without liquidating investments in difficult markets.  

Our investment approach features carefully researched and selected stocks, fixed income securities and possibly alternative investments, as well as mutual funds. We seek investments with the potential to outpace their respective markets and offer our services on either a discretionary or non-discretionary basis.
    Our affiliation with Morgan Stanley, one of the world’s most respected financial services firms, provides us with access to professionals in such varied disciplines as lending, estate planning and risk management. We can call upon these professionals, when necessary, to formulate and implement personalized strategies that encompass both sides of your personal balance sheet and every aspect of your finances.

    Many of our clients come to us because they are concerned about reaching their retirement objectives. Overtime, they come to rely on us for guidance that goes far beyond their investment portfolios including financial questions as diverse as what should they do with a maturing bank CD or whether they should buy or lease a car.

        Meet Beckwith Carver Group

        About Me

        A lifelong Alaskan, Kim has been helping clients and their families pursue their financial goals for almost 25 years. She began her financial services career in banking and served as a small business and personal lending specialist at several banking institutions before joining Merrill Lynch in 2004. It was there that she met Sally Beckwith and realized she wanted to provide clients with advice and guidance about their assets, as well as their liabilities. Today, she plays a prominent role in The Beckwith Carver Group’s financial planning efforts, helping clients uncover needs and create strategies to retire as anticipated, plan their estates, pay for their children’s or grandchildren’s college education and help meet a wide variety of other financial objectives.

        Kim earned an Associate Degree from The University of Alaska in 2003. She has always been an active member of her community, having served on the board of the Palmer Museum and Palmer Rotary Club. She is also an avid supporter of youth sports and sits on the Board of Wasilla Youth Soccer and the United Anchorage Youth Soccer League. Kim recently married and resides in Eagle River with her husband and their three teenage children.

        About Me

        Sally’s financial services career began more than 30 years ago when she worked full-time as a personal banker while still in college. Once she graduated with a BBA in Management from The University of Texas at San Antonio, she joined Merrill Lynch where she not only built a thriving practice, but managed the firm’s Olympia, Washington branch for two years.

        Sally came to Morgan Stanley in 2016 because she believed it was a place that would support her in her efforts to provide clients with a holistic approach to their finances. She has always viewed every client as unique with a special set of circumstances and relationships that required customized strategies for not only investing, but every aspect of wealth management, including retirement, estate planning and lending. 

        Sally’s clients over the years have included a number of non-profit organizations and businesses with challenges ranging from cash management and financing to establishing and maintaining viable retirement plans. Her focus on retirement stems from the realization that too many of her clients simply had no idea how to approach that phase of their lives beyond accumulating assets. To better help clients achieve these goals, Sally earned Morgan Stanley’s prestigious Portfolio Manager designation in 2017. As a result, she can now provide her clients with discretionary investment management.

        Sally’s interest in not-for-profits extends beyond providing them with financial advice. Outside the office, she has been an active member of Rotary Club International for almost 30 years. She is also a supporter of the Anchorage Symphony and many Alaskan charities, as well as a featured speaker at American Heart Association events. Finally, Sally founded Wild Women on Wine, an Alaska-based organization that supports breast cancer and diabetes fundraising, as well as introducing its members to Washington and Oregon vineyards.
