About Ray Au
Ray Au is a Vice President and Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in Kirkland. Ray serves a global clientele that includes business owners and their retirement plans, executives, real-estate investors and multi-generational families. He brings an international perspective that appreciates the distinctive nature of each client’s needs, catering to that singularity through a one-on-one approach that is deeply customized to each client’s situation.
Clients come to Ray with diverse needs. Some are looking for tax-aware investing or pre-liquidity-event planning. Others require trust services, customized lending, wealth planning, or foreign exchange. Whatever a client’s interests, Ray offers the experience and practical guidance to discern client priorities, strategize a cohesive path forward, and execute on those ambitions. Hard working, he thrives in busy environments, maintaining steady action to orchestrate multiple facets of client wealth and provide reliable leadership.
Ray has worked in wealth management and investing since 2006. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was at Merrill Lynch since 2022. Prior to his time at Merrill Lynch, he was a Financial Consultant with HSBC and a Private Client Banker with JPMorgan Chase. He also served as an Operations Manager and Responsible Officer for Scottrade in Hong Kong, overseeing the firm’s compliance efforts.
Ray earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington. He is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
Within his community, Ray is active in the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Seattle Association, the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce, and the Bellevue Chamber. He enjoys volunteering regularly with their initiatives for local families.
In his free time, Ray likes to work out, swim, and play pickleball. Prior to his wealth management career, he served in the airline industry, allowing him to travel widely. Having been “almost everywhere,” he loves speaking with people about their destinations, near and far.
