My Mission Statement
ABOUT ART ABARCA
Before building his career in financial services, Art graduated from Moody Bible Institute and served in the United States Marine Corps. His faith is the cornerstone of his decision-making, grounding his practice in a deep sense of purpose and stewardship. The core values forged through his background—uncompromising integrity, rigorous discipline, and a steadfast commitment to putting others first—are the exact principles that drive his approach to wealth management. He understands that true financial security requires both a highly strategic mindset and an unwavering standard of care for clients from all walks of life.
Art and his wife, Kara, have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of three sons. To Art, family is everything, and he approaches his clients’ financial well-being with the same protective dedication he gives his own household.
Outside the office, Art’s life revolves around his family and staying active. He enjoys working out, biking with his younger boys, and serving as an assistant coach for his sons' sports teams. When he isn't coaching or training, you can usually find him and his family traveling to explore the country's national parks or vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin.
A FAMILY-CENTERED PLANNING PROCESS
For Art Abarca, wealth management begins with listening.
Guided by faith, stewardship and a commitment to putting others first, Art works with families to bring order, clarity and disciplined execution to complex financial lives. His approach is grounded in integrity, active listening and a deep respect for the goals, concerns and legacy wishes that shape each client's financial journey.
Many families come to Art as they approach or live through retirement, a time when decisions about income, investments, cash flow, estate planning and family legacy become increasingly connected. Art's role is to help clients understand their full financial picture, organize the moving pieces and build strategies designed around what matters most to them and the people they love.
What You Can Expect
Before discussing solutions, Art takes time to understand your life, your family and priorities. These conversations often begin with questions such as:
- What does financial confidence mean to you?
- What concerns are top of mind for you and your family?
- What kind of retirement lifestyle do you want to maintain?
- What legacy do you hope to have?
- Who needs to understand your wishes if something happens to you?
The first step is about listening carefully, identifying what matters most and building a relationship rooted in trust.
We Bring Clarity to Your Financial Picture
Once your goals are clear, Art helps organize the key components of your financial life. This may include reviewing your investment accounts, retirement income sources, spending needs, cash reserves, beneficiary designations and estate planning documents.
The objective is to create a clear view of where you are today, where you want to go and what decisions need to be addressed along the way.
We Build a Coordinated Strategy
With your priorities in mind, Art works with you to develop a disciplined strategy that may address:
- Retirement income planning
- Investment allocation and portfolio structure
- Cash management and liquidity needs
- Risk considerations
- Estate and legacy planning coordination
- Family communication around long-term wishes
When appropriate, Art also collaborates with your attorney, tax advisor and other trusted professionals to help ensure your broader plan is aligned.
We Put the Plan Into Action
A plan is only valuable if it can be implemented with care and consistency. Art helps clients translate their strategy into specific steps, whether that means refining an investment approach, organizing accounts, planning for distributions, addressing cash management needs or preparing for important family conversations.
His process is not built around one-size-fits-all recommendations. Instead, each strategy is shaped by your goals, time horizon, risk tolerance, family circumstances and long-term priorities.
We Help Prepare the Next Generation
For many families, legacy planning is about more than documents and account structures. It is also about communication.
When clients choose to involve their adult children or other family members, Art can help facilitate conversations designed to clarify intentions, reduce uncertainty and help ensure the next generation understands the family's wishes. These discussions can be especially valuable for families who want to preserve not only wealth, but also values, relationships and peace of mind.
Questions Clients Often Ask
- How do I know if I have enough to retire? - Art can help you evaluate your income sources, spending needs, investment portfolio, cash reserves and long-term goals. The process is designed to help you understand what retirement may look like and what adjustments may be needed to support your desired lifestyle.
- How should my investments change as I enter retirement? - Retirement often requires a different balance between growth, income, liquidity and risk management. Art helps clients review their portfolio through the lens of their current stage of life, expected withdrawals, market conditions and long-term objectives.
- What role should cash management play in my plan? - Cash management can be an important part of creating flexibility and confidence, especially in retirement. Art helps clients think through liquidity needs, planned expenses, emergency reserves and how cash fits within the broader investment and income strategy.
- How can I make sure my family understands my wishes? - Legacy planning often works best when the right people are informed and prepared. When appropriate, Art can help facilitate family conversations so your children or heirs better understand your intentions, priorities and the responsibilities that may come in the future.
- Should my adult children be involved in the planning process? - That depends on your preferences and family circumstances. Some clients want their children involved early, while others prefer to keep conversations more private. Art can help you determine when and how to include family members in a way that supports your goals.
- Can you work wtih my attorney or tax advisor? - Yes. While Morgan Stanley and its Financial Advisors do not provide tax or legal advice, Art can coordinate with your attorney, CPA and other professionals to help ensure your financial strategy is aligned with your estate planning and tax considerations.
- What happens to my spouse or family if something happens to me? - Art helps families think through continuity, organization and communication. This may include reviewing account structure, beneficiary designations, estate planning documents and the information loved ones may need in the future.
- How often should we review the plan? - Review frequency depends on your needs, but Art believes ongoing communication is essential. Many clients benefit from regular meetings, especially during major life transitions, market changes, retirement decisions or family legacy planning conversations.
- How are investment recomendations made? - Recommendations are based on your goals, risk tolerance, time horizon, income needs and overall financial picture. Art's process is designed to align investment decisions with your long-term plan, rather than reacting to short-term noise.
