Source: Source: napa-net.org (Awarded March 2024) Source: napa-net.org (March 2024) awarded in 2024. This ranking was determined through an evaluation process conducted by NAPA based on self-reported assets under advisement as of Dec 31, 2023. Neither Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC nor its Financial Advisors or Private Wealth Advisors paid a fee to NAPA to obtain or use the ranking. Nominees must be individual advisor team/offices with a defined contribution book of business, in a single physical location. To be considered, firms had to submit responses to an application form, including information about their practices, notably their defined contribution (DC) assets under advisement. The list is created and conducted by the National Association of Plan Advisors, an affiliate organization of the American Retirement Association, a non-profit association. Assessing Plan Competitiveness & Matching Your Goals
As a plan sponsor, you’re likely aware of both the regulatory changes and lawsuits surrounding fees. The value of this service is that it enables you to have a better understanding of the services you are receiving in relation to the costs you are paying. There is no requirement that you have to pay the lowest fees, but as a plan fiduciary, you are responsible for determining whether the fees you pay are reasonable in relation to the services you are receiving. To assist you in this determination we can provide benchmarking services and provider searches. If you decide to move to a new recordkeeper, we will be there every step of the way striving to ensure a smooth conversion, as this process can be both daunting and overwhelming.

    Guiding Your Investment Oversight
Regardless of whether we are providing advice or discretion, we implement a six step process that guides our investment oversight. It starts with understanding the needs of you and your plan participants.

We will then work with you to help you review your current or create a new investment policy statement which will guide us in reviewing, selecting and removing funds from the plan. While you, as the plan sponsor, ultimately have responsibility for the investment policy statement it is the document that will guide all investment decisions.

Next we will look at the investment line-up to determine if it has the appropriate exposure to various assets classes as well as whether your current funds are meeting the investment policy criteria and either recommend or make, depending on our role, investment changes.

Once the fund line-up has the appropriate asset classes represented and funds meeting the investment policy criteria, we will provide ongoing monitoring and reviews to help ensure the criteria continues to be met. For instance, if a fund no longer meets the investment policy criteria we will either recommend or make, depending on our role, investment changes.

ERISA Fiduciary Services for Your Plan
We can provide Fiduciary services to your plan as either providing investment advice as described under ERISA 3(21)1 or we can take investment discretion as described under ERISA 3(21)2. When we take investment discretion we also become an ERISA 3(38) Investment Manager and will make all the decisions with regards to adding and replacing the investment funds in your plan.
