My Story and Services

I entered the financial advisory profession with a deep appreciation for how meaningful guidance can change a family’s trajectory. My first exposure to financial planning and wealth management came at a pivotal moment—after the unexpected passing of my father while I was preparing to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. During a difficult and uncertain time, my family’s advisor became a mentor who helped me understand not only what needed to be done in the moment, but how thoughtful planning creates stability, direction, and confidence for the future. That experience still shapes how I serve clients today.
After commissioning from the Naval Academy in 2008, I spent 12 years on active duty, much of it at sea. The Navy taught me to lead under pressure, plan for multiple contingencies, and stay focused on the mission—skills that translate naturally to financial planning. When the demands of active duty began to weigh on family life, my family and I relocated to Williamsburg, and I transitioned to the Navy Reserves and into a career in financial advisory.
Before joining Morgan Stanley, I worked at a smaller boutique firm in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. That experience strengthened my belief that clients value a steady relationship, clear communication, and advice tailored to their real lives—not generic solutions.
My wife is also a Navy veteran (USNA Class of 2007) and now a math teacher at Hornsby Middle School after graduating from William & Mary’s graduate program. We’re raising four young children and stay rooted in the Williamsburg community through volunteer involvement with St. Bede, William & Mary Men’s Rugby, Girl Scout Troop 1699, and William & Mary ROTC. Community and service are central to our family, and they are central to my work with clients.

The Client Experience

I execute your client experience as a structured, relationship-focused cycle designed to understand your full financial picture, align on goals, deliver advice and solutions, and monitor progress over time. In practice I follow these steps:

Connecting and Getting Acquainted

Learning more about one another to build rapport and trust, and set expectations for what the advisory relationship entails (scope, service model, and how decisions will be made).

Discovery (Client Fact-Finding and Goals)

A comprehensive conversation to understand the your objectives, values, time horizons, cash-flow needs, family considerations, existing assets/liabilities, and key concerns. This typically includes gathering documentation and clarifying constraints (liquidity, taxes, concentrated positions, business interests, etc.).

Risk Alignment & Planning Framework

Establish risk tolerance and capacity, and define an appropriate planning approach (e.g., retirement, education, estate considerations, lending/cash management). We finish by confirming your priorities and success metrics so the plan is specific, measurable, and timely.

Advice & Proposal

Translate Discovery into a recommended strategy—often combining investment allocation, implementation approach, and planning actions. Review trade-offs, costs/fees, risks, and alternatives; confirm understanding and agreement.

Implementation & onboarding

Open and fund accounts, complete required documentation, set up cash flows and services, execute the agreed investment strategy, and coordinate with your other professional experts (CPA, attorney, etc.) as appropriate.

Ongoing Service, Monitoring & Reviews

Provide periodic reviews and proactive outreach, monitor performance and progress toward goals, rebalance or adjust as markets and life events change, and update the plan over time. The engagement is continuous—refining recommendations as your circumstances evolve.
